Program Council is sponsoring the opportunity for students to travel the world in the mall area Wednesday from noon until 3 p.m. Participants will be able to visit booths representing different countries from around the world.
The booths will contain information about different countries, cultures and religions that students may not normally know much about. The goal of the event is to educate students in the ways of cultures that vary from their own.
“This program will give students the opportunity to learn about cultures and gain knowledge that they might not have personally experienced,” Laurie Orlando, director of marketing and public relations for Program Council, said.
Though this is the first time SHSU has held this event, PC representatives say they expect around 200 people to attend the event.
“Since we’re in the mall area, we expect quite a few people to show up,”Orlando said.
Different countries will feature different aspects of their culture, including music and food. Five countries will be represented in the mall area. Among them will be England, Japan, China, Egypt and India.
“England will have fish and chips to offer students. Weather permitting, India will have a camel that students can have their picture taken with,” Orlando said.
