Have you ever wanted to learn more about Asian culture?
Well, you could drop everything you’re doing and make the approximately 8,000-mile journey across the Pacific Ocean. But if you don’t have time for that, the Office of Multicultural and International Student Services has a solution to your problem – UniDiversity Week: The Continental Asia.
“This semester, UniDiversity Week is really unique,” Multicultural and Multinational Student Services Coordinator Ashley McDonough said. “We are incorporating a lot of interesting events that will hopefully introduce students to food and entertainment they might not have ever experienced before. We are really excited about the week’s programs and look forward to seeing a lot of students at our events!”
The event kicks off next Monday with a “Taste of Japan” in LSC 320 from 11 a.m. – 1 p.m.
“There will be an almost buffet lineup for students to try, if they want to,” McDonough said.
The next activity will be the “Think Tank Breakfast” on Tuesday. There will be free breakfast and discussion in LSC 307 at 9:30 a.m. On Wednesday, “Bollywood Night” will begin with Indian food in LSC 110 at 6 p.m. Then the Movie, “Monsoon Wedding,” will be shown in the LSC theatre. Closing out the week will be a lecture session over “MISSconceptions: Asia” on Thursday at 2 p.m. in LSC 304 by the Japan American Society of Houston.
“Out goal is to get more information out there for people,” McDonough said.
