Bearkat 2.0

The annual Bearkat Family Weekend has been rescheduled due to Hurricane Ike. It will be November 14 through the 16, with events starting Saturday morning. Check-ins will be all day from 8:30 a.m. to 11:00 p.m. in the LSC mall area.

The weekend kicks off with the Kats for the Kause 5k Charity Run/Walk at 8 a.m., with registration starting at 7:15 a.m. at the Bowers Stadium West Parking Lot.

Later that morning, guests will be given the chance to eat a continental breakfast with administrators at the Welcome Extravaganza in the LSC mall area from 9 a.m. to 10 a.m.

There will be a barbeque at noon, along with the Carnival on the Concourse until 2 p.m. There will be games and activities sponsored by various departments, giving parents a chance to see more of what SHSU offers its students. From 1 p.m. to 3 p.m., the Criminal Justice department will hold its open house in the CJ foyer. At Randal House at 2:30 p.m., the Bearkat Learning Community will offer refreshments and display its slideshow of past events entitled “What We’ve Been Up To”. Pre-game events begin at 3:30 p.m. with the Classic Car Cruise-In. Owners of classic cars from the local area will bring their automoviles to the Bowers Stadium North Parking Lot. Students and guests will be able to vote on their favorite classic automobile. At 4 p.m., tailgating will begin and continues through to the 6 p.m. kickoff of the Bearkats vs. Southeast Louisiana football game.
