Fallfest fun day

Halloween frolicking and fun isn’t just for students. SHSU faculty, staff, and their families are invited to come out to this year’s Fall Fest at Gibbs Ranch.

Today, from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. the SHSU community can enjoy Halloween festivities. There will be activities for everyone of all ages, including a bounce house, a pumpkin walk, hayrides and sack racing. At 6:30 p.m. families can enjoy a costume parade. Event go-ers can also dine on treats and sweets.

The annual event is expected to draw a crowd of 250 people. The concept of Fall Fest is from Nancy Gaertner, SHSU alumnus and wife of President James F. Gaertner.

The event would not be a hit without the hard work of the students who volunteer. Some will supervise the games and other activities. Theatre students will dress up in lively costumes.

“The only reason it is so successful is because of student volunteers,” said Maggie Collum, special events coordinator.
