Sigma Tau Delta society to host lit. masquerade

Combining traditional Halloween dress-up traditions and literary verve, Sigma Tau Delta will host a literary masquerade on campus tonight.

The literary masquerade is an annual event hosted by the English Honor Fraternity, Sigma Tau Delta. Admission is free, but food donations are welcome.

The event, at Old Main Pit from 5:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. tonight, will include a costume contest, prizes, baked goods, and activities like bobbing for apples.

“I can’t wait, I mean it’s a literary masquerade — it’s what we’re all about. The opportunity to dress up like a Cormac McCarthy character or William Faulkner character – who knows,” Dr. Gene Young said. “It’s just too good Then there’s always the challenge: hm, who are you?”

The literary masquerade will also feature musical performances from Dr. Gene Young, Dr. Lopenzina, and Sigma Tau Delta president Travis Franks.

“It’s one of our regular Sigma Tau Delta events,” Franks said. “It’s pretty important to us.”

“We’re looking for more opportunities to have and more visible presence on campus,” he said. “We invite the university community to come if you want to.”
