Basic art skill: Not Required

The second Sam Houston Collaborative Art Project, rescheduled due to Hurricane Ike, is finally here again. The creative juices will be flowing from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. today in the LSC Mall area.

No art skill is necessary for students to attend. The event is completely casual and is provided as a stress reliever to combat the monotony of classes.

“Most classes don’t let you use the creative side of your brain,” said Daniel Flores of Program Council who is heading up the project. “This gives students the chance to relax and use a different skill not commonly used in the classroom.”

The interesting thing about the Art Project is that each individual student’s work will be combined at the end to make one large piece of art, which will then be displayed in the LSC gallery later in the month.

Students don’t need to bring anything with them but their creativity.

Crayons and acrylic paints will be provided, along with a few mixed media pieces.

“This is a unique opportunity for students to create something,” Flores said.
