Help needed for Sat@Sam

Need community service hours? Want a free t-shirt and lunch? The Visitor Center is looking for a few good volunteers to help out at the annual Saturday@Sam, the university’s welcoming event for prospective students on Nov. 22. They need tour guides, greeters, and general information people, plus volunteers to help point potential students and their parents in the right direction.

The main goal of all volunteers will be to answer questions for visitors, and to be the friendly faces of Sam Houston State University. The Visitor Center is very flexible schedules.

“This program would not be possible without the help of volunteers,” said Lyndsey Gorski, volunteer coordinator of the Visitor and Alumni Center.

The only requirement is that a volunteer must be an SHSU student, and s/he must attend one training session, the last of which will be today, Nov. 18, at noon in the Visitor and Alumni Center. For more information, contact Lyndsey Gorski at 294-4482 or lgorski@shsu.edu.
