Shuttle schedule modifications

In its second semester of operation, the recently instated Sam Shuttle faces a need to modify schedules to accommodate fluctuating passenger numbers. Rather than add lines, the shuttle will be scaled back as the cost of fuel remains low and riders rely on their own means of transportation.

The two separate shuttles have been condensed into one shuttle due to cost issues, as requested by the Brazos Valley Transit. According to an e-mail sent to the students and faculty of Sam Houston State University, two busses were necessitated by staff members working until 5 p.m. and students/faculty needing to be at the University center for 6 p.m. classes.

On the timetable, organizers have adjusted departure times, leaving SHSU at 5 p.m. from Bowers’ Stadium, traveling south to the Woodlands/University Center.

The Council of Academic Deans also approved University Center classes changing start times to 6:15 p.m. to help accommodate the new schedule.

To purchase tickets to ride the Sam Shuttle, students can visit the Office of Enrollment Management, the Recreational center, or the cashier’s office. Exact change only is accepted for the Recreation Center and Enrollment Management office.

Tickets are $4 for a one-way and $8 for a round trip ticket. They are also sold in books of 40. A new ticket is required every time the rider wants to re-enter the bus.

Shuttle stops include the Coliseum, Bowers Stadium, Conroe at 111 League Line Road, Lone Star College, Portofino Shopping Center on Shenandoah, and the Cynthia Woods Mitchell Pavilion in the Woodlands. Students parking on campus to ride the Shuttle south must purchase a parking sticker. Reduced rate stickers can be purchased from the Parking Management Office for $25.
