In honor of Black History Month, the Office of Multicultural and International Student Services has invited Joe Rogers, the former Lieutenant Governor of Colorado, to make a dedication in honor of the Reverand Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. on Monday, Feb. 9 in the LSC Theater.
Rogers said that The Dream Alive Program all started when he was asked to deliver the “I Have a Dream” speech during a Martin Luther King, Jr. memorial service in 1986 when he was a senior in college. He profiles not only MLK, Jr., but other major civil rights leaders as well.
“We wanted to get Joe Rogers because of all of the great things we had heard about him. Every school that had brought him previously said he had blown them away.” Said Ashley McDonough, program coordinator for M.I.S.S.
He has spoken at thousands of colleges, universities, and corporations, and has developed a reputation described primarily in a word, “moving”.
