For seven years, offensive line coach B.J. Anderson has been with Sam Houston State head football coach Todd Whitten.
For the 2009 season, however, Anderson has left SHSU to take the same position as the offensive line coach at the University of Houston. Leaving SHSU was not a reflection of his time here, but rather of the opportunity to coach Division I football.
“This was a great opportunity for B.J. and his family,” Whitten said. “I really wish the best for him.”
Anderson, who has also coached at Tarleton State, Texas A&M, and Stephen F. Austin, will replace Joe Gilbert at UH.
In his two years at SHSU, Anderson has coached two first team All-Southland Conference offensive linemen and his line has paved the way for the Bearkats’ big offense.
The now-open position has not been filled by coach Whitten, but the job position was posted Monday morning and it is expected to generate interest.
Interviews will be held during the week and an announcement could be made as soon as next week.
