The Sam Houston State Program Council hosted the second round of its Project Runway competition yesterday, giving Bearkat fashionistas the chance to strut their stuff.
This student competition features student designers who have to perform tasks and compete against each other to become SHSU’s first Project Runway winner.
“Our Project Runway is a spin-off of the project runway that aired on Bravo,” said Jaenetra Lewis, a member of Program Council.
This week’s theme was “Get Thrifty,” and the students had to create an outfit using items that they bought from a local thrift store.
Each contestant was allotted five dollars to purchase everything they needed for the competition.
In the first round of the competition, the theme was “Go Green,” and the contestants had to create a designer dress using burlap and twine.
The contest received a great response from students, so Program Council had high expectations that just as many people would come this week.
Each round of the competition is filmed by Program Council and aired in the LSC Theater.
