Most people tend to shop for clothes, food, or other tangibles. It is rare that people get a chance to shop for money.
Texas Southern University made this possible on Tuesday, March 31.
More than 40 different companies were represented on TSU’s campus on Tuesday at the school sponsored career fair that was located on Blodgett Road in Houston, Texas.
The open event gave people from all over the state the opportunity to shop for a career.
Students and individuals who were present at the career fair came from across the entire state.
Universities that were represented by its students included Baylor University, Prairie View A&M, Texas Southern University, Sam Houston State University, and the University of Houston.
Students reported a general satisfaction with the opportunities that they found at the career fair.
“This job fair was very beneficial. I met a lot of people that talked to me about some really cool job interests,” Prarie View A&M student Ursala Gentry said.
Some of the companies that were represented were Verizon Wireless, Dallas Independent School Districts, the Federal Bureau of Investigation and the Environmental Protection Agency, among others.
Companies were represented by booths that were lined up in seven rows.
Representatives from each company were present at the booths with valuable information on the nature of each organization.
TSU representatives also discussed hopes of hosting another career fair in the fall in light of the positive feedback received.
“We are very happy with the turnout at this career fair. Hopefully we can do another one in the fall semester and it will be just as successful,” said Jolynn Hill, representative of the TSU Student Affairs Organization.
