Students asked to lobby for clean energy at ReEnergize Texas Summit

The ReEnergize Texas Summit will bring 500 students from across Texas to Huston-Tillotson University in Austin for a weekend of learning, networking and lobbying on clean energy and climate change.

The event will be held this weekend from March 28-30.

Texas students are following up on the 12,000-person Power Shift ’09 summit in Washington DC with a summit of their own in Texas.

Keynote speakers include Dr. Robert Bullard (known as the ‘father of environmental justice’), Congressman Lloyd Dogget, Mark Kapner (Austin Energy) and more. Speakers and workshops will address various campus greening strategies as well as the many issues that intersect with building a sustainable future: clean energy, social and environmental justice, green jobs, faith, food, and energy and climate policy.

Registration is $15 per student and ends this Thursday, March 26. Faculty and staff are encouraged to support students with fundraising, logistics and/or providing class credit. Limited scholarships are also available from the Summit.
