As a part of Welcome Week 2009, Student Activities will host an Adult Circus at 8 p.m. on Tuesday. The event is set to take place in the LSC Ballroom, where the creator of the show, Michael DuBois, will entertain students with comedic and technical juggling, magic, and dangerous sideshow demonstrations.
DuBois has developed his own brand of variety show entertainment for quite some time, but his dreams of performing became a reality when he won first place at Synergy, a talent show at Penn State in the fall of 2002. In 2004, DuBois was invited to appear as a guest on The Tonight Show with Jay Leno to demonstrate the more dangerous aspects of his performances. He has since developed the Adult Circus, a variety show that travels all across the country to college campuses to entertain students and fans.
As Welcome Week is designed as a social outlet for new and returning students, Brandon Cooper, coordinator of the event, hopes the circus will be successful in providing students a fun way to reunite with one another and transition back into college life.
The cost of admission is free to any student who arrives with their SamID in hand. This is the first year Sam Houston State University will be hosting the Adult Circus so students are encouraged to come out and enjoy the unique entertainment with friends both new and old.
