Sam Houston State University’s Career Services will host Rsum Rescue on Wednesday, Sept. 9.

The event will take place in the LSC Mall Area from 10a.m. to 2p.m. where students will have a chance to stop by their booth to have their rsum professionally critiqued and receive tips to begin creating one.

“One of the reasons we are holding this event is because we want to give students the opportunity to get ready for the career expo that is coming up on Sept. 23,” Paige Andrews, Career Services Special Event Coordinator said.

Pam Lauglin, Director of Career Services, Vinessa Mundorff, Assistant Director of Career Services, and career counselors will be on hand to help students sort out their rsum and offer suggestions.

Although a rsum is not required in order to participate in Rsum Rescue, it is preferred.

Those students who have not created a rsum yet can receive a rsum packet to help get them started in the process.

Career Services, a department within the Division of Enrollment Management, seeks to provide students and alumni with expert career advice and offers a host of other services to direct students on the right path for life after college.

For example, JOBS 4 KATS, is an online system that is updated daily with new jobs and internships by employers seeking the help and expertise of Sam Houston graduates. It is also an invaluable tool for those students looking for on campus jobs.

Students may also visit Career Services in person, which is located in AB IV, for career counseling, career assessment, and mock interviews.

Career Services is open Monday through Friday from 8a.m. to 5p.m. For more information, please call 936-294-1713 or visit their website at http://www.shsu.edu/careerservices.
