Ways to give

The Student Activities office will host its fifth annual volunteer fair in the Lowman Student Center mall area on Wednesday, Sept. 23. The event will start at 10 a.m. and run until 1 p.m. Tables will be set up from several organizations so students can get more information about how they can volunteer in the community. The event will be for the benefit of the students, and they can receive the information just by simply walking through the mall area.

Organizations confirmed to this event are America Democracy Project, American Cancer Society, Good Sheppard Mission, American Red Cross, Project Sunshine, Huntsville Pets Helping People, SAAFE House, Planned Parenthood, Pregnancy Care Center, and CASA of Walker County.

These groups share how students can get more involved and show them the value of volunteering. “This is a good way to get contacts, and get community service hours. Students can get a better understanding for the organizations and learn how to contribute to the community,” Price Howard, the Student Activities’ Assistant Events Coordinator said.

These organizations are from Huntsville, Walker County, and Houston areas. In previous years the volunteer fair has succeeded in getting information about community service activities to the students.

For more information about this event or any of the organizations go to the Student Activities office in the LSC.
