Final Farewell

For seniors at Sam Houston State University, their final home games are approaching. The Houstonian wishes these seniors well on their journeys through life and hope these former Bearkats will make as big of an impact off the field as they did here in Huntsville.

Katie Philips – Middle Blocker

During her time at Sam Houston, Katie Phillips has been a first team All-Southland Conference player, an academic All-Southland first team member, and has posted over 17 double figure kill matches, including a career high 20 against Texas A&M Corpus Christi.

Anna Ferguson – Middle Blocker

10Height: 5’11High School: Lake HighlandsHometown: DallasGPA: 3.46

Anna Ferguson has played on over 80 matches while at Sam Houston, starting 60 of those games. A two-time honorable mention All-Southland selection, this middle blocker has over 400 career kills. Ferguson was an All-District player at Spring High School, and was voted team offensive MVP.

Debbie Campbell – Foward

A four sport letterman in high school, Ashley Simmons’ resume includes participation in the Italy Cup Competition, All-District defender and Team Captian at Pflugerville High School, and a Southland Commision.

Alison Oalkand – Defensive Fielder

Alison Oakland led her high school team to the third round of the state soccer playoffs. She has played for Warrior and Lone Star soccer clubs, and has qualified for statewide tournaments. She was the MVP on the 2007 Bearkat soccer team

Ashley Simmons – Defensive Fielder
