Police confirm identity, intent of suspicious death victim

The Huntsville Police Department has confirmed the identity of the victim of a suspicious death that occurred Wednesday and also believes that the death was a suicide.

Dianqin Jiang, 21, was a Chinese immigrant living with a Chinese family in Huntsville. He took his life at approximately 2 p.m. when he jumped from a Highway 30 overpass into the Northbound lanes of IH-45 and was struck by an 18-wheeler, police said.

“As a result of our investigation it now appears that the suspicious death is in fact a suicide,” an HPD press release stated. “We thank those citizens that notified the Police Department of their observations during the time of the incident as their input assisted our investigation greatly.”
