The face of SHSU’s student government association has been selected to represent 75,000 students as the new student regent of the Texas State University System.
Gov. Rick Perry appointed 10 student regent representatives of each respective university system to the Texas Higher Education Board for terms effective June 1, 2011 to expire May 31, 2012.
According to the Governor’s office release yesterday, the following individuals have been selected:
Higher Education Coordinating Board
Amir Barzin is currently pursuing a doctor of osteopathic medicine degree from the University of North Texas Health Science Center (UNTHSC) in Fort Worth. He received a bachelor’s degree in biology from the University of North Carolina and a master’s degree in medical science from UNTHSC.
Texas A&M University
Fernando Trevino Jr. is currently pursuing a bachelor’s degree in political science from Texas A&M University and a master’s degree in public service and administration from the Texas A&M University George H.W. Bush School of Government and Public Service.
Midwestern State University
Linda Aguilera is currently pursuing a bachelor’s degree in criminal justice from Midwestern State University.
Stephen F. Austin State University
Sarah Feye is currently pursuing a bachelor’s degree in food, nutrition and dietetics from Stephen F. Austin State University.
Texas Southern University
Steven Champion is currently pursuing a master’s degree in public administration from Texas Southern University. He received a bachelor’s degree in administration of justice from Texas Southern University.
Texas State University
Ryan Bridges is currently pursuing a bachelor’s degree in business administration, and plans to pursue a Master of Business Administration from Sam Houston State University.
Texas Tech University
Jill Fadal is currently pursuing a medical degree from the Texas Tech University Health Science Center and a Master of Business Administration from Texas Tech University in Lubbock. She received a bachelor’s degree in general studies from Texas Tech University.
Texas Woman’s University
Christina Wagoner is currently pursuing bachelor’s degrees in English and history from Texas Woman’s University.
University of Houston
Tamecia Harris is currently pursuing a law degree from the University of Houston Law Center and a Master of Business Administration from the University of Houston Bauer College of Business. She received a bachelor’s degree in political science from the University of Houston.
University of North Texas
Christian Dean is currently pursuing a doctor of osteopathic medicine degree from the University of North Texas Health Science Center (UNTHSC) in Fort Worth. He received a bachelor’s degree in molecular, cellular and development biology from the University of Colorado at Boulder and a master’s degree in biomedical sciences from UNTHSC.
University of Texas
John Davis Rutkauskas is currently pursuing bachelor’s degrees in business administration, finance and French under the Plan II and Business Honors Programs at the University of Texas at Austin.
