The Sam Houston State baseball team will host “Service Appreciation Night” when they play top 25-ranked Rice Tuesday night at Don Sanders Stadium.
The Bearkats defeated the Owls last week in Houston 3-0.
Bowers Blvd. will be closed all the way from Sycamore Avenue to the Don Sanders parking lot for pedestrian flow, tailgating and military displays. These will include a rock wall and a Humvee.
The Bearkats will be wearing special camouflage jerseys that will all be auctioned off to benefit the Lone Survivor Foundation. The jerseys will be auctioned to fans on http://www.gobearkats.com starting during the game until April 7. Bidding begins at $100.
Any person who presents a military/service ID will be admitted into the game at no charge. Guests of these people will receive a discounted price of $4 per ticket.
“Service Appreciation Night” will honor all military veterans, with special recognition to those who were a part of the Vietnam and Korean War.
The Bearkats, as the number three seed, knocked the Owls out of the NCAA World Series last season before falling to Arkansas in the regional finals.
First pitch is set for 6:30 p.m.
