Timeline documents Miami Heat’s historic win streak

The Miami Heat’s historic 27-game winning streak was shattered on March 27 by the Chicago Bulls, 101-97, when a late comeback attempt by the Heat simply was not enough.

The loss put the Heat six games short of the 33 game records held by the 1971-72 Los Angeles Lakers.

The teams performance had its highs and lows. But, they always somehow won and did so in a number of different ways. They dominated elite teams like the Chicago Bulls, Oklahoma City Thunder and Los Angeles Clippers. Then, they struggled with lower-rung teams like the Cleveland Cavaliers, Sacramento Kings, and Orlando Magic.

During the streak, Miami looked nearly unbeatable. They came back from double digit deficits seven times. In 11 of the games, the Heat were behind in the fourth quarter but still came out on top. They came back from a 13-point hole in the final eight minutes to seek out a win against Boston and then turned around a 27 point third-quarter deficit in Cleveland.

The Heats epic run is one of the longest in the history of American pro sports.

An interesting side note to this story is that of the winning streak legacy of Miami Heat player Shane Battier. According to Fox Sports, Battier was also part of the Duke 32-game winning streak from 1998-99. He was also part of the Houston Rockets 22-game run in 2007. This makes him the only NBA player in history to be a part of two 20-plus game winning streaks.

He is the definition of a winner, said Heat coach Erik Spoelstra. And every play he makes is a winning play Its almost to the point now where we dont take it for granted so much. Hes also irreplaceable because of those winning qualities.

The defending champs arent too worried about their winning streak coming to an end. The bigger picture is winning another championship come this summer as playoffs approaches.

The Miami Heat are getting ready for the playoffs have to bring and the outcome of that is unknown.
