The second annual Sam Houston State University Local Licensee Trunk Show is hitting Lowman Student Center Ballroom today, as shops around Huntsville show off their Bearkat merchandise.
The show, hosted by the Department of Athletics and Strategic Marketing Affiliates, is designed as an event for campus merchandise buyers to see what local vendors have to offer as SHSU spirit wear for different departments throughout the university.
Kimberly Spino, athletics department corporate partnerships and licensing coordinator, said the event helps buyers and sellers connect.
“Campus buyers meet their local vendors in a more private, personal setting because many of them only know each other through e-mail or phone,” Spino said. ”Vendors pass out business cards, [meet] potential new buyers and have the chance to see what other vendors are selling.”
Vendors are allowed one or two tables to display what they have to offer, whether it be apparel, jewelry, engraved items like picture frames, blankets, key chains, trophies, banners and more.
Some vendors have giveaways during the event; others will make donations to be raffled off at the end of the event to the buyers that attend.
“We encourage anyone with purchasing ability or who makes purchasing decisions to attend,” Spino said. “Campus buyers will sign in by simply swiping their Bearkat OneCard. There is no cost for campus buyers or local vendors to participate.”
So far, 14 vendors have been confirmed to attend the Trunk Show. A few of the vendors include Advanced Online (BearkatGear.com), C.C. Creations, Barefoot Athletics, Tough Shirts and The Urban Circle.
The Trunk Show will be held in the Lowman Student Center Ballroom today, 1 to 4 p.m.
