Huntsville citizens and Sam Houston State University students will soon receive more dining options as companies confirm plans to open restaurants in town.
Aron Kulhavy, city economic development director for Huntsville recently confirmed that a Panda Express is currently in the construction phase of development. The Panda Restaurant Group reaffirmed that statement saying that they plan to open in approximately ninety days.
“There are plans of a Panda Express opening in Huntsville scheduled to open in June,” a Panda Express Public Relations representative said. “It will be located near Interstate-45 and Smither Road.”
According to a press release from Panda Express, “each new store provides a platform for stimulating the local economy and opportunities to give back to the community.” The company also states it is growing on all levels to meet its goal of 10,000 locations.
Panda express area coach of operations Thomas Wen said they are glad to be expanding.
“As a family-owned business, Panda has always treated our guests, communities and associates like family right from the very beginning,” Wen said. “We are proud to continue serving our delicious and quality entrees, such as our classic Orange Chicken in the Houston DMA with this new location.”

Raising Cane’s Chicken Fingers has recently been on the radar of Huntsville communities as to whether or not they are planning to take roots in town.
ApplyCaniacCareers.com, the job-listing site for Raising Cane’s has job openings for shift manager and general manager positions for a new restaurant opening. A representative from the company confirmed the future opening.
“At this time, we do plan on opening in Huntsville,” a Raising Cane’s representative said in a statement. “We cannot confirm an opening date until closer to the end of construction.”
A location for the restaurant remains a question at this time.
“In the event something were to happen, we are unable to confirm until everything is in motion on our end,” the representative said.
We will have an update as far as location and opening date within the next month. At this time, there are no more new restaurants confirmed to be opening in the near future.
