More student government campaign signs have been vandalized on campus. According to SGA officials, signs were placed in CHSS building Sunday and were found missing Monday morning.

According to Dean of Students John Yarabeck, security footage was taken near where the signs were removed and the university is investigating the issue further.
“It is truly disappointing when this sort of thing happens,” Yarabeck said. “If we find the person(s) responsible, the Election Commission will be notified as well as my office moving forward with charges of alleged violations of the Student Code of Conduct.”
Yarabeck said that he believes these actions have deliberately violated what SGA stands for.
“In my mind these actions are a direct attempt to sabotage what SGA is all about in terms of seeking to represent other students by running for office, campaigning, and encouraging students to get out and vote,” Yarabeck said. “To be effective, an SGA cabinet member should first and foremost serve as a role model. If it turns out that someone actually running for office is behind this, they have violated all of our students’ trust. They have lost their integrity and have no business representing SHSU students serving in this capacity.”
Election commissioner Brooke Hunter said a meeting will be held soon in order to discuss ways to prevent vandalism or removal of property.
According to university police department, no official complaint has been filed.
This is the second report of destruction of campaign materials.
