“I chose Sam because I came from the largest graduating class in the nation (Plano East Senior High School with 1600 graduating seniors in my class), and I didn’t want to go to a huge university, but I didn’t want to go to one too small either. I found Sam to be just the right size for me to be comfortable. All throughout high school, I volunteered at an assisted living center near my home and all my life I’ve been volunteering at various animal shelters. I have five rescue dogs, and by being an active volunteer at the shelters, I’ve seen the good and the bad of shelters and the reality of animals. Most people think they want to be veterinarians because they just love animals. I love animals, but at the same time, I want to help them whether it be beneficial for me to treat an illness or to put them down. The whole concept interests me, and that’s why I chose to major in animal sciences. Also, I am a proud member of Alpha Chi Omega sorority and they have made my experience at Sam that much better.”
