Severe weather once again rocked the Huntsville area.

The storms made their way through at 4:15 a.m. Monday, bringing with them heavy rain, damaging lighting and high winds.
As the storms approached the area, the National Weather Service issued a Severe Thunderstorm Warning as well as a Tornado Warning.
Sam Houston State University students were quickly awoken as the storms started to pound the area. Senior mass communications major Laura Toeniskoetter said she was startled by the loud noises outside.
“I woke up to thunder,” Toeniskoetter said. “I checked my phone and saw there was a tornado warning just west of us and I knew it would be coming towards us. There was lots of thunder and when I went outside, it was more light outside than dark because there was so much lightning.”
Areas throughout Huntsville sustained major damage from the high winds. Neighborhoods saw numerous trees down, which knocked out power and caused roads to become impassible.
According to Entergy, about 2,800 customers are without power and may not have power again until Wednesday at noon.
Aside from the damaging winds, flooding was another problem for Huntsville residents.
After serious damage from previous storms, the on-campus Recreational Sports Center again received water damage.
According to an RSC employee, the water went into the cardio and weight room as well as the rock wall area.
As a result from the weather, Huntsville ISD canceled classed for Monday. According to its website, there was a two-hour delay, but after further inspection, they decided to cancel classes completely “due to multiple power outages, water damage and road conditions.”
All storms were out of the area by the morning rush.
Cleaning crews as well as Entergy workers are working to repair down power lines throughout the city.
