Q: How did you feel when you first got elected SGA president?

A: “It was really exciting. I’ve been part of SGA since my sophomore year and I was Chief-of-Staff my junior year. After that, I decided I wanted to run for president halfway through my junior year. I set my mind to it and worked really hard to get elected. Then the pandemic happened, and the elections were pushed back to August.”

Q: How does it feel to be a woman in leadership?

A: “It feels really good. I feel like we have a lot of great women leaders, student leaders especially. I sit on multiple different committees and I see it. It feels good knowing that the student body chose me to be their leader. It feels good that they trusted me to be student body president.”

Q: What does women history month mean to you?

A: “It means celebrating women. It means acknowledging great things that women have done and understanding how far we still have to go. Recognizing how far we have come and how far we still need to push forward is big and having women know that they can rely on each other be the best that they can be.”

Q: In what ways can women be more celebrated for their accomplishments?

A: “I think acknowledging that women can do anything they set their mind too and seeing that we have it harder in certain aspects. People should understand the perseverance and dedication it takes for a woman to succeed and to not discount their experiences.”
