Are you down for Mom’s Spaghetti?

Look, if you had one shot or one opportunity to seize everything you ever wanted in one moment would you eat it or let it slip?

On Sept. 29, Marshall Mathers, also known as Eminem, in the rap game, opened a new restaurant in his hometown of Detroit called Mom’s Spaghetti. Located in the alley between Union Assembly and Fillmore, business has been booming since its opening.

Seven hours before opening, fans camped out all day for a spot in line, which later wrapped around the building. However, the first ten patrons got a special surprise from Slim Shady himself; food served from him and a selfie.

The name Mom’s Spaghetti comes from the lines of his infamous 2003 Academy Award-winning song, “Lose Yourself” from the “8 Mile” soundtrack.

His palms are sweaty, knees weak, arms are heavy

There’s vomit on his sweater, mom’s spaghetti

He’s nervous, but on the surface, he looks calm and ready

To drop bombs, but he keeps on forgettin’”

The menu is simple with offering spaghetti: plain, with meatballs or vegan “rabbit balls”, and spaghetti sandwiches, all for under $15.

The now-restaurant started as a pop-up shop in 2017 and made numerous appearances at several of Eminem’s festival performances. During the COVID-19 pandemic, they delivered food to front-line hospital employees and COVID-19 vaccinators in Detroit.

Since there is limited seating inside the restaurant, the walk-up window is always busy. While the walk-up window is being occupied by many hungry patrons, the upstairs merchandise and memorabilia store called “The Trailer,” another salute to “8 Mile”, allows fans to support the Detroit-raised rapper in a new way outside of his music.
