Pawtoberfest
For the first time in three years, the board of Rita B. Huff Adoption Center hosted their annual Pawtoberfest Fundraiser at the Walker Education Center.
Following an Oktoberfest theme, the event offered food, drinks, and both live and silent auctions for the citizens of Walker County.
The live auction included prizes such as vacation home getaways, art prints, hunting gear, and Bearkat memorabilia. With more than 30 baskets donated for the silent auction, the support for the shelter was overwhelming.
The funds raised at this event will go toward the new facility on Veterans Memorial Parkway which is expected to open within the new year.

Banners lined the walkway to the event, while the Public Health students at SHSU and members of Tri Sigma greeted the crowd.
The event was catered by Sam’s Table, Humphrey’s, Carbonero, Farmhouse, and Five Loaves Deli.
