The university spent $135,000 on three acts for Sammypalooza this year.
According to records obtained by The Houstonian, Panic! at the Disco will bank $80,000 for their performance Wednesday. Cassadee Pope will make $30,000, and the recently added Mary Lambert will pocket $25,000.
Sam Houston State University will give the three performers the star treatment, with fully conditioned dressing rooms and amenities.
Each artists’ rider consisted of snacks and drinks, ranging from a 1/2 gallon of 2 percent milk for Panic! at the Disco to chips and salsa for Pope. All requests for alcohol were denied, save for one six-pack of Coors Light for Panic! At The Disco’s crew dressing room, according to the documents.
The contracts between the university and Creative Artists Agency, which represents Panic! at the Disco, Cassadee Pope and then-performer Skylar Grey, were originally withheld by the agency after an open records request was made. The agency later released the contracts to The Houstonian after SHSU requested a ruling from the Texas attorney general’s office regarding the protection of proprietary information in contracts between private companies and public entities.
Lambert’s contract was relinquished Monday after another open records request was filed by The Houstonian.
