The Order of Omega will host the annual Pantheon awards, the official Sam Houston State University Greek Life Awards Thursday.
This is the fourth year in a row that Order of Omega is hosting the ceremony.
Order of Omega is a national honor society that recognizes the top three percent of Greek Life on campuses across the nation. Senior accounting major and Order of Omega president Tyler Patek said the purpose of Pantheon is to highlight students for their hard work throughout the year.
“The Pantheon recognizes chapters and individuals that have excelled in the current academic year,” Patek said. “We prepare by receiving nominations from chapters, reviewing applications, designing the logistical setup, booking entertainment acts and helping our emcees learn their script.”
Patek said the recognition of SHSU Greek Life’s successes is important beyond the organizations themselves.
“This event is not only beneficial for the Greek life community but also for the entire university because it shows the impact Greek life has in our community,” Patek said, “We have our total community service hours, philanthropy donations and have outstanding work that individuals are and chapters have achieved over the past year.”
The Pantheon Awards Showcase will begin at 6 p.m. in the Lowman Student Center Ballroom.
