The Student Money Management Center (SMMC) is known to host events to help college students with their financial issues.
As we go through our college careers, we face struggles with money due to classes, books and educational needs. The SMMC finds creative ways to offer the resources we need to make it through our college experience. Their office hosts workshops, presentations and personal consultations, all free for SHSU students.
One key event held by the SMMC is Financial Literacy Month. The United States Congress and the Mayor of Huntsville have designated the month of April as Financial Literacy Month. By doing this, we raise public awareness of financial literacy and financial health.
The kick off to this year’s Financial Literacy Month will feature SHSU Alum Erika Jones, who is also with the Federal Reserve Bank of Dallas-Houston Branch. She will be presenting a “Lifestyle Calculator” presentation where students can learn the impact of their choices after graduation.
This event will be held April 4 in the Student Affairs Annex from 6 p.m. to 7 p.m. Pizza will be served, but it is on a first-come, first-serve basis.
Throughout this month, students will have many opportunities to enter a drawing to win a $250 scholarship.
The Student Money Management Center invites you to attend events this month and learn how to cope with your financial struggles.
