Pay-it-Forward, an organization focused on foster care reform, is hosting “Go Blue Week” on Sam Houston State University’s campus during the first week of April.

Go Blue Week is dedicated to raising child abuse awareness and explaining how we can stop it. Each day holds a new event that explains more about the foster care system and how it affects the children in it.

On Monday April 1, there will be a ribbon tying on campus. Students will be able to come help out and will also receive blue ribbons of their own.

Tuesday there will be an event at the Buffalo Wild Wings in Huntsville at 8:30 p.m. All throughout the month of April proceeds from meals will be donated to Pay-it-Forward when you notify your server.

Wednesday holds a tabling event on campus to help raise awareness specifically for Go Blue Day. Members of pay-it-forward will be handing out flyers and talking to students on and around campus.

Thursday there will be an event in the LSC theatre with guest speakers—including the faculty advisor for Pay-it-Forward, Terri Jaggers.

Jaggers is a communications professor, the director of interns at SHSU, and owner of Hope’s Path— a non-profit that helps foster youth once they age-out of the system.

Every event leads up to Go Blue Day on April 5. The event for Go Blue Day will be held in Old Main pit from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m.

Go Blue Day is centered on having fun and raising money for a good cause. Students will be able to come out and enjoy food and music.
