Huntsville-Walker County Chamber of Commerce will host the 46th annual Fair on the Square on Oct. 3 in downtown Huntsville. The event is free to enter and showcases over 400 local businesses, organizations, churches and clubs through vendors and activities.
“We are going to try to execute a great event that has a long and rich history,” CEO and President of the Huntsville-Walker County Chamber of Commerce Ray Hernandez said.
On Oct. 2, the Pre-Fair on the Square Concert will feature the band Folk Family Revival in the Beer Garden from 8 p.m. to midnight. Folk Family Revival has opened for Willie Nelson, Lynyrd Skynyrd, Merle Haggard and many more notable artists. The Beer Garden will be located at 14th Street & University Avenue underneath the Beer Garden tent.
Those 21 and up can also enjoy the Wine Knot attraction with live music off of University Avenue between 12th and 13th Street. Tickets are $15 for one visitor or $25 for two, which comes with 10 wine tastings, a complimentary wine glass and food and wine pairings.
Children get to enjoy the Kid’s Korner which includes free crafts, bungee run, a balloon artist, petting zoo, pony rides, face painting and many more activities.
Free parking will be offered at Bowers Stadium, specifically Lot Z2-14 near the scoreboard, and a free shuttle bus is provided. The shuttle will run from 8:30 a.m. to 6 p.m.
Due to COVID-19, new protocols are enforced to keep all visitors, vendors and volunteers safe during the event. The protocols include wearing face masks, social distancing and use of hand sanitizer.
“We’re going to encourage social distancing where possible, but we understand because of the event’s structure and nature there won’t be much of opportunity for social distancing, but certainly there’s other protocols people could have,” Hernandez said. “We will have hand sanitizer available for folks throughout the event.”
