The Sam Houston Bearkat softball team fell to the University of Texas at Arlington Mavericks on Wednesday at the Bearkat Softball Complex with a score 8-1. The Mavericks stonewalled the Bearkats for most of the game, limiting Sam Houston to just four hits over the course of the game versus the Mavericks’ 15 hits.
Freshman designated player Kylie Hobbs was the only Bearkat to score for the day when sophomore third baseman Kyndal Kutac brought her home with a single in the bottom of the fourth inning.
Sam Houston ranks seventh in the Southland Conference, right behind McNeese State University in fifth and Texas A&M University-Corpus Christi.
The Bearkats struggled both at bat and on the field but are looking forward to a rebound against their opponents to break their five-game losing streak.
This weekend, Sam Houston will be looking to hold off against No. 8 in the conference, Houston Baptist University, at home for a 3-game series. The series will kick off with a doubleheader this Friday at 4 p.m.
