Netflix’s hit show “Squid Game” has quickly become one of the best shows to watch this year. Trending into the top five shows on Netflix this year and on track to become one of the most watched shows on the platform. “Squid Game” has shattered records set by other shows that came before it and continues to draw in a strong audience.
The show depicts a competition with around 456 contestants, in which wealth is promised to the winner of the brutal gauntlet of fatal events. These stages are borrowed from children’s playground activities such as Red Light, Green Light, which is one of the first games that the contestants play. From there, the show truly begins, contestants who lose are killed.
As the series continues, it becomes clear that the competition exists for many reasons, including for the harvesting of human organs and to amuse a chattering class of wealthy people. Show creator Hwang Dong-hyuk emphasized that he began writing the script in 2008.

“The pressure on me is huge now, with such a big audience waiting for a season two,” Dong- hyuk said in an interview with The Hollywood Reporter. “Because of all that pressure, I haven’t decided yet whether or not I should do another season. But if you look at it positively, because so many people loved season one and are expecting good things for season two, there are people everywhere in the world offering their opinions about where the show should go. I could pull ideas from fans all around the world to create the next season.”
