The Student Money Management office is offering scholarship drawings for workshop attendees.
The SHSU Student Money Management office, or SMM, conducts several workshops throughout the school year, educating and promoting financial literacy to SHSU students.
Previous SMM workshops have included Budgeting and Financial Goals, Life After Graduation, and Financing Grad School. Student Money Management Program Coordinator Tiffany Hubrig explains, “Attendance and signing in with your SAM ID are the only two requirements to be eligible for scholarships drawings. Attendance can be at the workshop in the LSC or via Zoom but we have to have your SAM ID as well since that is how we select our winner, through the drawing of course.”
The drawings are for $500 and if won, the money would go to the student’s MySam account. To follow along with physical materials, it is encouraged to attend in-person. However, the Student Money Management office does not want physical ability to restrict anyone from learning, and invites all unable to attend in-person to join them online via Zoom. Students can join via Zoom by visiting shsu.edu/smmlive.
The remaining Fall 2022 workshop schedule includes: Student Loan Repayment on November 30. For Spring 2023, workshops include: Dr. Kisha’s All About Credit on January 25, Budgeting For Study Abroad on February 22, Budgeting for Apartments on March 29, and Student Loan Repayment on April 26.
