The Agriculture Science and Engineering Career Fair will help students find employers that can hopefully lead them to success.
One of the reasons Sam Houston State University hosts events like this is so that students will be able to get their foot in the door and meet employers in their fields and ultimately find their niche, according to career services marketing and events manager Mitch Parker.
“The fair will benefit students by way of jobs and getting students out there in the workforce, providing internships that will hopefully lead to full time jobs,” Parker said.
Recruiters from different fields are there and are willing to share with them the knowledge of the workforce and the real world. Parker said more than 50 organizations are attending.
“Why are you in school?” Parker said. “To find a job that best fits your skills and that’s why we are here, to help you succeed.”
Career fairs provided by universities are often seen as stepping-stones for students towards employment and help people network in the rat race that is the job market.
The fair will take place on today in the Lowman Student Center Ballroom from 10 a.m. to 2p.m.
