In what seems like a blink of an eye, spring break flew by.
Although it was a quick week, I managed to get through everything on my list of things to do while on my last spring break ever. Now that school is back in session, it is time to buckle down and get down to business (to defeat the Huns).
The first thing you need to do, or probably already should have done, is get your sleeping schedule back on track. You stayed up all hours of the night last week. You did not have to worry about waking up in the wee hours of the morning to get ready to go to class, so it made sense to stay up as late as possible. Not to mention you could sleep as late as you want. Yeah, you screwed yourself over with that one, but it was totally worth not getting caught sneaking in at three in the morning from the one rave, right?
Since there are only 55 days of school (yes I am keeping count of the 55 days until graduation) it might be a good idea to start taking your school work seriously. It is true that C’s get degrees, but think about it: do you really want a C on your transcript? Worse, you might fail the class and have to retake it because you did not take the work seriously. These 55 days might seem like a lot, but you do not want to wait until the very last minute to try and make everything work out. It might possibly blow up in your face, and you could be left with nothing. Get your act together now.
Speaking of getting it together, it might be a good idea to talk to a counselor. If you are a senior graduating in May, screw it. You are pretty much done, provided you pass your classes this semester. Everyone else should get advised as soon as possible and figure out what classes you need to take. Juniors, ask as many questions as you need and make sure you take all you pre-requisites in the fall. That way you will not be screwed over your last semester of college.
You should also expand your horizons. There are numerous organizations around campus that are always welcoming new members. Join one that interests you. This is college, you need to network. The connections you make today will come in handy one day, so take advantage of it now. Plus you never know, you might actually enjoy the activities taking place in the organization, so put on your big boy/girl pants and get to it.
The gym might be a good place to do that. Being in college is not a good enough excuse to eat not to be in shape. Take some time throughout your day to plan out healthy meals that are easy to make. Instead of taking the elevator to the third floor, take the stairs. Start of slow and take it in moderation and before you know it you will be running three miles in no time. Plus, you will want to be in shape for summer. You know what you need to do.
Lastly, do not forget to have fun. Your school days are limited, so enjoy them as much as possible. Be sure to go out and have some fun in between all the exams and school work that you have to deal with. You might end up cracking under all the pressure if you do not step away to take a breather every once a while.
Spring Break may have already come and gone, but summer will soon be here. Keep that in mind throughout the next month and a half. I am sure that it will motivate you through all those unbearable lectures.
