Square Enix goes all out with promotion as they announce the long-awaited Final Fantasy 15 release date, September 30, 2016, and many other special announcements.
Square Enix released a Final Fantasy 15 demo last week that gives fans a detailed look into how the game, once released, will look graphically and gameplay-wise on PlayStation 4 and Xbox One.
Platinum Demo is a standalone experience and features FFXV’s main character, Noctis. In the demo, users wander around in Noctis’ dream as a young boy, where he is guided by a tiny fox-like creature, Carbuncle, which can only communicate with the protagonist through a smartphone.
The demo allows users to test out the game’s battle system, much similar to the Kingdom Hearts series and Dark Souls gameplay mechanics. Players are also able to shrink down to a miniature size, drive toy cars, turn into mysterious animal hybrids, collect gems that unlock other weapons and items, turn into an adult to fight a boss and step on panels placed all over the game that allows users to change the time and alter weather effects.
If the player completes the Platinum Demo, Carbuncle is offered to be used in the main game as a free DLC character.
A full-length CGI feature film was announced to be released soon on Blu-Ray and digital download around the time the game arrives.
Kingsglaive: Final Fantasy XV will feature Sean Bean from Lord of the Rings and Game of Thrones, Lena Headey from 300 and Game of Thrones and Aaron Paul from Breaking Bad. The main story of the film will revolve around the evil Nifheim, who attempts to stream a crystal from the magical kingdom of Lucis.
Along with the film, a free anime series titled, Brotherhood Final Fantasy XV, will be featured as a prequel to the game.
The anime series will release five episodes that revolve around the main protagonist, Noctis and the friendship with his three friends. The first episode of the anime is now available to watch on YouTube with further episodes that will release as the FFXV launch date approaches. Brotherhood features original Japanese voice actors with subtitles.
Collector’s editions of the game were announced for fans of the series. For $59.99, players will be able to preorder the “Day One Edition” of FFXV, which will include a downloadable “Masamune” sword to be used in-game. For $89.99, the “Deluxe Edition” will give users a steelbook package of the game and DLC for a bonus costume, weapon and skin for Noctis’ car in-game.
For the die-hard fans of Final Fantasy, and for bragging rights, players can get the “Ultimate Collector’s Edition.”
With this bundle limited to 30,000 units worldwide, a hefty $269.99 will include a hardcover art book, the soundtrack to the FFXV game, an exclusive Play Arts Kai Noctis figure, four item packs for the game, a secret sixth episode of the Brotherhood Final Fantasy XV anime and everything else that one can get through the Deluxe Edition.
As the release date of September 30 nears, fans of the Final Fantasy series will have a lot of exclusive content to be occupied with throughout the wait period. Expected to be one of the best games of the year, Final Fantasy XV will please many.
