This week’s ‘Who’s that Kat?’ features Sam Houston State University’s head football coach K.C. Keeler.
Keeler graduated from Deleware in 1981 where he was a linebacker from 1978 to 1980. He was a member of the 1979 Division II National Championship team before being signed as a free agent by the Philadelphia Eagles in 1980. Keeler would make it to the last round of cuts during the 1980 preseason.
His coaching career began in 1981 as an assistant coach at Amherst College in Massachusetts. He would later become an assistant coach at Rowan University in New Jersey in 1986 and remain there until he was awarded the head coach position in 1993. He surmounted an 88-21-1 record from 1993-2001 and had seven NCAA Division III playoff appearances.
He would return to his alma mater and take over the reins at Deleware until 2012.
He would be hired at Sam Houston State University in 2014 as the fifteenth head coach in program history. The announcement came on January 23, 2014, and since then Keeler has gone 38-11.
