SHSU Writing Center extends Sunday hours

The Writing Center has extended its hours to better serve the students of Sam Houston State University.

The Writing Center has added hours on Sunday from 2 p.m. until 7 p.m.

“The Writing Center has extended its hours because students were coming in at 8 a.m. on a Monday morning trying to get help with a paper, and hopefully the Sunday hours will allow students to get help before Monday,” said Audra Warren,Writing Center student assistant.

When asked in what other ways the extended hours will help students Warren said, “The extended hours will also benefit students that have a job Monday through Friday and aren’t able to make it into the Writing Center during the week.”

The Writing Center is available to all students that may need help with a paper, or tutoring in grammar and spelling. There are tutors available to help in English and Spanish.

The Writing Center staff is also available to faculty for proofreading and copy-editing manuscripts and proposals.

Students who want to use the Writing Center may call 24 hours in advance to make an appointment.

Students may make an appointment to avoid waiting for a tutor or to work with a certain tutor. Students can also use the Center on a walk in basis.

The Writing Center’s hours are Monday through Thursday, 8 a.m. until 7 p.m.; Friday from 8 a.m. until 3 p.m.; and Sunday, 2 p.m. until 7 p.m.

The Writing Center is located in the Wilson Building, Room 114. For more information, call 294-3680.
