Volleyball ends season with win

The Bearkats volleyball team completed its season on Saturday finishing seventh in the regular season Southland Conference standings with a 12-19 record.

The Bearkats defeated Nicholls State in four games on Saturday.

Liz Dahlstrom and Dana Jefferson led the team to a 30-24, 30-28, 23-30, 30-25 victory. Dahlstrom had 18 kills while Jefferson had 13.

Jefferson also had three blocks and Teri Palmer had five blocks.

The Bearkats lost to Southeastern Louisiana in three games Friday, which put the SLC playoffs out of the reach of the team.

Carrie Sartain and Dahlstrom led the team in kills with Sartain racking up 15 and Dahlstrom totaling 8.

The Bearkats have improved this season compared to last season when the team had a 5-25 record.

Dahlstrom, who completed her third season of Bearkat volleyball, said she is not disappointed at this season’s standings.

“We have doubled our wins from last season and I think we did really well,” she said.

Dahlstrom said the Bearkats should have made it further than they did.

“I think we’re better than some of the teams who made it,” she said.
