Rugby team to face University of Dallas

The Sam Houston State rugby team defeated UNT 45-22 this past weekend at Prichett Field. Sam Houston had three players score two trys a piece.

Captain and Texas Select player Robert Foster, along with Jimmy Jewison and Justin Kinslow were responsible for the scoring. Randy White also added a try and Basil O’Mallan converted five of seven conversion kicks.

“The game was incredibly fast paced with a lot of open field runs,” said Sam Houston’s flyhalf Byron O’Bannon. “Our fitness is not where we want it to be and we allowed UNT more points than they should have gotten.”

Sam Houston will next play Oct. 28 against the University of Dallas at Prichett Field. They have already defeated Rice and Dallas RFC, both of which are top-notch opponents.
