Kats to play Fresno State in ESPN Bracket Busters event

(SID) – Sam Houston State will face Fresno State on Saturday, Feb. 17, in the fifth annual ESPN Bracket Busters event.

The meeting between Fresno State and the Bearkats is one of 51 games to featured in the. two-day men’s college basketball extravaganza pitting potential NCAA Tournament hopefuls against each other.

Fresno State, a member of the Western Athletic Conference, currently stands 15-6 for the season. The Bulldogs, who finished sixth in the Western Athletic Conference, made their most recent trip to the NCAA Tournament in 2001.

m Houston State is most successful team in the Southland during the past eight seasons and ranks second behind only the Texas Longhorns in total victories since 2000 among the 20 NCAA Division I teams in Texas with a 141-84 overall mark.

“Bracket Busters is such a great opportunity for our program to achieve national recognition,” Sam Houston men’s basketball coach Bob Marlin. “The team is excited about the chance to return to California again this season for another match up with a quality NCAA Division I program.”
