What don’t women want? (Part II)

A very interesting comment was said to me the other day about a ring I wear on my left hand. If a girl has a ring, regardless of it being a diamond ring or not, she is owned by her man. I personally have a ring that I wear on my left ring finger that is from my boyfriend. We are planning on getting married, but it’s not an engagement ring.I was shocked by the comment made by a guy friend of mine that my boyfriend owned me because I wear a ring. I have never been the type of girl to depend on a man for any reason. My parents taught me that I don’t need a man to do anything for me. Please, tell me how does a ring signify ownership?Ranchers brand their cattle with hot irons to identify them as well as tag their ears. In some African tribes, women are tattooed to show what tribes they belong to. But a ring on my finger does not mean that anyone owns me. My boyfriend and I both wear rings that we got each other, but that does not we own the other person. If I want to own something I will by it. But you can’t buy love or a soul mate. Life is not like The Lord of the Rings, “one ring to rule them all.”No woman should ever let a man say they “own” them. No woman needs a man to help her into a car or open a door. We are perfectly capable of doing everything a man does if not better. That’s right I said it; women are better than men. That’s why we out number men.Don’t get me wrong; I am not saying we don’t need men in our lives. I love my boyfriend and he knows that he does not own me or have control over me. I am who I am and that’s all that I am; and that is not going to change. Listen up ladies, you should not change for a man, nor should you let them control you.
