March 5 deadline to sing up for Program Council Paintball War

Sam Houston State University students will be able to compete for a $200 grand prize in the Program Council’s Paintball War on March 6 at Intramural Field III at 3 p.m.

The tournament will consist of 15 teams of ten people in single elimination games.

“It’s going to be a fun event for students and they’ll get to take a break from schoolwork,” Lauren King, the entertainment chair for PC, said.

There will be a time limit on each game in the tournament. If there is no clear winner by the end of the scheduled time for any particular game, the winning team will be decided by the number of players left on the field.

“This is going to be a great way to bring in Spring Break,” King said. “Players will be working together to win that prize and there’s going to be some tough competition.”

Students can sign up for the event individually or as a team and there is no cost to register. Only 150 people will be able to participate. Students need to sign up by March 5 in room 324 of the Lowman Student Center.

The event is sponsored by the Sigma Chi fraternity, Bearkat Battalion, SHSU Paintball and Recreational Sports.

This is the first time the PC has sponsored a paintball tournament.
