I have to start by saying that if I read anymore letters to the editor about slavery and race not being an issue I think I am going to puke.
Obviously there is a race issue, but I don’t think it’s so much a white hating black issue. Yes, there are some white people out there who are racist against blacks. But, there are also some blacks who are racists against whites. And we mustn’t forget the Hispanics and Asian’s and every other race out there. We must remember that this country was founded on immigrants; therefore we are a very diverse country.
Instead of talking about how there is so much racism in this country maybe we should just stop hating people because of the color of their skin. Maybe then we can say (and it actually be true) that race isn’t an issue.
It’s only an issue, however, because we make it an issue. I personally believe that what makes a person is their personality, not their background or the color of their skin.
