Greek life to party

The National Pan-hellenic Council will host their “First Party of the Year” event at 10 p.m. on Thursday.

The event is set to take place in the LSC Ballroom, where Sam Houston State University’s International Greek community will exhibit to students who they are and what their organizations stand for.

On the national level the NPHC is composed of nine sororities and fraternities. Sam Houston State is home to only eight: the Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc., Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity, Inc., Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc., Zeta Phi Beta Sorority, Inc., Iota Phi Theta Fraternity, Inc., Sigma Gamma Rho Sorority, Inc., Phi Beta Sigma Fraternity, Inc., and Omega Psi Phi Fraternity, Inc.

The purpose of the National Pan-hellenic Council encompasses many ideals, but above all these Greek organizations strive to promote unity and togetherness among members of African American Greek organizations and all African American students at Sam Houston State University as well as promote student leadership with programs that give back to the needs of Huntsville community.

As this is a casual event, the National Pan-hellenic Council would like to extend an invitation to all students to come as you are for a lively evening full of socializing, good music, and fun.

A DJ will be provided and many of the organizations will be displaying their own unique personalities to the student body by chanting and dancing.
