Graduate Dances amaze audience

ROYGBIV: Boundaries amazed the audience with a variety of genres of dance, great technique and well used lighting. The Department of Dance presented a compilation of dances choreographed by MFA Dance Candidates.

The best dance is Cydonia Labyrinthus choreographed by Travis Prokop. It was five girls dressed in red, orange, yellow, blue and green. They had beautiful technique and it is obvious they love what they are doing. The dance is simulation of the chords on rock band. This is a ingenious idea and was executed well.

Another crowd pleaser is Layer choreographed by Amy A. Wright. It is a trio tap dance that is performed with no music. The dancers created their own beat. It is a fun and upbeat dance where the dancers interacted with one another and have the times of their lives while dancing.

Twelve One choreographed by Shate L. Bedford Edwards combines modern with hip-hop. The emotion that the dancers portray grabbed the audience and had them wanting more.

This is a dance performance worth seeing. We give these performances three and a half paws.

Catch the final showing on Nov. 2 at 8 p.m. in the Performing Arts Center. Tickets are $8 and can be purchased at the box office or through this number, 936-294-2339.
